Who it is for

The Villa Autonomy package is designed for large villas in Las Terrenas, Cosón, Playa Bonita, El Portillo or El Limón that want maximum energy autonomy:

  • villas with several air conditioners, a pool, a water heater or an electric kitchen;
  • properties where the grid is unstable, has long outages or is hard to connect to;
  • villas under construction, where energy can be planned from the start;
  • owners who want to depend as little as possible on the grid and on fuel.

How it works

The setup is: large panel array → inverters → substantial battery storage → villa, with a backup generator.

  1. During the day, the panels power the villa and charge the batteries. This is the ideal time to run the pool pump and other loads that can be scheduled.
  2. At night, the villa runs on the batteries: lights, refrigeration and air conditioning, depending on the system size.
  3. After several cloudy days, or if consumption is higher than planned, the generator starts — automatically if the inverter and generator allow it — to recharge the batteries and power the house.
  4. If the villa is still connected to the grid, the grid can also serve as backup.

An off-grid system requires careful management of consumption. Sizing starts from a precise list of your appliances and when you use them.

What the package usually includes

Power and capacity are defined after the technical visit. A Villa Autonomy package usually includes:

  • a large panel array, on the roof, on a pergola or on the ground, depending on the property;
  • one or more inverters able to run without the grid;
  • substantial battery storage, installed in a suitable technical room;
  • integration of a backup generator, existing or new, if the project requires it;
  • protection devices, wiring, the electrical panel and system monitoring;
  • installation, commissioning and an explanation of how it works for you or whoever manages the villa.

Common options: a solar water heater, solar pumping for a well or cistern, and remote monitoring by our team. Manufacturer and installation warranties are specified in the quote.

Benefits and limitations

Benefits

  • The villa no longer depends on grid outages.
  • Fewer generator hours, so less fuel, noise and generator maintenance, depending on usage.
  • A more comfortable property to live in or to rent out.

Limitations

  • It is the solution that requires the largest investment.
  • Full autonomy is not assured: in cloudy periods or with high consumption, the generator or the grid remain useful.
  • Air conditioning and the pool weigh heavily in system sizing; efficient equipment and daytime scheduling make a real difference.
  • You need space for the panels and a ventilated technical room for the batteries.
  • Regular follow-up is required: panel cleaning, battery checks and generator checks.

What we check during the technical visit

  • The list of appliances: number and type of air conditioners, pool pump, water heater, kitchen, water pumps.
  • How the villa is used: permanent residence, occasional stays or holiday rental.
  • The surfaces available for panels and the shade, especially from palm trees.
  • The technical room for batteries and inverters: ventilation, temperature, protection from humidity and salt air.
  • The existing generator: power rating, condition and whether it can start automatically.
  • The grid connection, if there is one, and the condition of the electrical panel.
  • Site access for delivering equipment.

Can I disconnect from the grid completely?

It is possible in some cases, but it is not always the most prudent choice. Keeping a grid connection or a backup generator gives peace of mind during periods with little sun. We assess this with you during the visit, based on your consumption and budget.

What if full autonomy is not my priority?

If your villa has a reliable grid connection and you mainly want to lower your bill and get through outages, a hybrid solar system may be enough. For a first idea, get an indicative estimate with the calculator.
