Who it is for

The Hybrid Comfort package is designed for houses and villas in and around Las Terrenas whose owners want two things at once: a lower electricity bill and no more suffering through power outages. It is especially suitable if:

  • the house is occupied all year or for much of the year;
  • you use a lot of power in the late afternoon and at night, when the panels no longer produce;
  • outages affect your comfort, your remote work or your guests;
  • you have a roof or an area with good sun exposure.

How it works

The energy flows like this: panels → hybrid inverter → home, with the batteries in reserve and the grid as a top-up.

  1. During the day, the panels produce electricity. The hybrid inverter sends it first to the appliances that are running.
  2. The surplus charges the batteries.
  3. In the evening and at night, the home uses the energy stored in the batteries.
  4. When the batteries reach the programmed minimum level, the utility grid takes over.
  5. During an outage, the inverter isolates the home from the grid and keeps powering the backed-up circuits from the panels and batteries.

Depending on the design, the whole house or only part of it is backed up. Very heavy loads, such as several air conditioners at once, can stay on the grid only so they do not drain the batteries.

What the package usually includes

Power and capacity are defined after the technical visit, based on your consumption and priorities. A Hybrid Comfort package usually includes:

  • solar panels and a mounting structure suited to your roof;
  • a hybrid inverter, which manages the panels, batteries, grid and home together;
  • a battery bank;
  • protection devices on the panel side and the house side, wiring and adaptation of the electrical panel;
  • system monitoring through an app, when the equipment allows it;
  • installation, commissioning and an explanation of how the system works.

Manufacturer and installation warranties are specified in the quote. Possible options: a solar water heater and remote monitoring by our team.

Benefits and limitations

Benefits

  • You buy less electricity from the grid, during the day thanks to the panels and in the evening thanks to the batteries. Savings are an estimate that depends on your consumption and schedule.
  • The essentials, or the whole house depending on the design, keep running during outages.
  • You use in the evening the energy produced during the day.
  • The system can be expanded later if the equipment is chosen with some headroom.

Limitations

  • The investment is higher than for a grid-tied system without batteries.
  • Batteries have a limited lifespan and will need replacing one day.
  • Production varies with the seasons, clouds and shade; on grey days the batteries charge less.
  • The home stays connected to the grid: it is not an off-grid system, and the bill does not disappear.

What we check during the technical visit

  • Your consumption: recent bills, main appliances and when you use them.
  • The roof: type, condition, orientation, tilt and usable area.
  • Shade from palm trees, other trees or buildings throughout the day.
  • The electrical panel and the circuits you want backed up.
  • The location for the inverter and batteries: ventilated, shaded, protected from salt air.
  • Your generator, if you have one, to see how to integrate it.
  • How the house is used: main residence, second home or holiday rental.

Can I install a hybrid system in a holiday rental?

Yes. For guests, having power during outages is often what matters most. It is worth planning remote monitoring and showing whoever manages the house how to read the system's status. Our guide on solar for rental properties or homes for sale covers this case.

What if outages are my only concern?

If you are not trying to lower your bill, the Backup package may be enough. To compare all the options, see the solar packages.
